Technology not to change the world but to make it accessible: .lumen at Tandem

On 4th of November .lumen team visited Tandem building to discuss how it is complicated - to live without sight - and to present their solution, supporting those who happened to be in such situation. .lumen smart "translate" information from the surroundings, transforming them into vibrations and directional sound signals, giving the user freedom of movement and orientation.

The visitors had a unique opportunity to test the glasses themselves, going through a few exercises in which they used only their hearing, touch and the guidance of the glasses. It is a moment that changes perspective: how much of the world becomes or disappears depending on access.

About .lumen

.lumen is the research start-up which builds Pedestrian Autonomous Driving (PAD AI), first showcased in the Glasses for the Blind. Founded by Cornel Amariei, inspired by his family – all of them having disabilities, the Glasses replicate the main features of the Guide Dog, and more, in a scalable product. The same software coordinating the Glasses, called PAD AI, will allow humanoid robotics to navigate pedestrian environments.
